Thanks Jill. I love the sketch idea. More imaginative than the written log I’ve recommended on the past. Also gets in touch with creativity. Look forward to seeing if you feel like sharing one or two.
Am using my phone to do this for the first time ever so it probably wont make sense!

One thought re: ‘notice’, @Jobaker9 gave me a ‘visual journal’ at the end of 2015, with space (just half an A5 page) for a ‘sketch a day’. I’m NOT artistic, but I’m determined to use it this year. The sketches are quick (and not always that great!) – 5 minutes, usually. But deciding what to sketch makes me think (and because it’s a year’s ‘journal’ I want to choose a subject each day which means something) and the process of sketching itself makes me look properly, and notice. Even though it’s 5 minutes a day, that’s soothing and restful.

Good luck with your plan to get the right amount of sleep. I have really been aware of how much better, and longer, I’m sleeping now no longer working full-time in a pressured job. And it’s perhaps revealing that when I do have a few days’ busy work I tend to sleep less well because I find if I wake in the night my brain is buzzing with what’s happened and what I think about it. But I can then often lie in next morning and so catch up with the sleep I’ve missed in the night. I do appreciate this and don’t think I’ll ever take it for granted. Thanks for your comment, Faysal. Larry did indeed touch many lives and his influence will continue though others. It’s a great question for any of us ‘what do you want your epitaph to be?’ We all have the capacity and opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of others, but Headteachers have more opportunity than most. Larry would be the first to say he wasn’t perfect. What I now realise is that – in a unique way – he had the gift of seeing the Divine in everyone.

Of course, the impact of the national climate in any inspection team an be ameliorated by the Lead Inspector – just as a school climate can be protected from pressure of national government by the headteacher. Wouldn’t it be good, though, if we could all pull in the same direction?!
